Eight weeks old and growing!

So, Mitch went to the doctor today for his 8 week check-up. He had his first round of vaccines as you can see by the band-aid on his leg. He cried lots, then fell asleep for a good portion of the day; overall I think he did pretty well. As for the stats: he weighs 11 lbs 14.5 oz and is 24 inches tall! That puts him in the 50th percentile for weight and 85th percentile for height! He was given a clean bill of health and we don't have to go back until 4 months old. The rest of these pictures have nothing to do with the doctor's visit, but I think they're cute, so I wanted to post them anyway!

Swaddled from below the arms to begin the transition to no swaddling. Mitch likes to keep his arms up when he sleeps.

This is Mitch and his toy, Whoozit. He really loves it and smiles lots when he's looking at it, it just so happens that he was looking scared/surprised when I took this picture!

Super baby!!!

All smiles

I've been trying to capture all the smiles Mitch has been giving; I have lots of pictures but none of them quite capture when he's super happy. But they're cute anyway, so here they are!

Mitch's first trip to the zoo

When Aunt Allison was in town, she, Mitchell and I went to the zoo and saw the new baby elephant! He was about 3 weeks old and weighed 338 lbs! These are the best pictures I was able to get; they're a little blurry because we weren't allowed to use a flash. The baby was really cute just like all babies which is why we love them!

Self portrait after seeing the baby elephant.

Mitchell needed to eat at the zoo; afterwards since he was awake we decided to take some pictures with the animals. Here he is with the giraffe. He might be a little too young as he didn't really pay attention!

Meeting Aunt Allison

Aunt Allison came to meet Mitchell last week...her husband, Matt and daughter Gianna were supposed to come, but Hurricane Ike had other plans for them and they needed to stay in Houston to make sure the animals and house were taken care of. Turns out a tree fell on the attached garage and did some damage so it was a good thing they stayed behind. But Mitchell seemed to take a liking to his aunt and will hopefully meet his uncle and cousin soon.

A friend of ours sent this onesie while Allison was visiting, we had fun taking pics!

The weather was really nice during Allison's visit, sunny and warm during the day, but cool at night. We made s'mores over the fire pit one night...yummy!

Smiles for his aunt!

Quick pics before heading back to the airport. We'll miss you!

More awake time

Mitchell has been having more time awake now!

Here is Mitch's one month picture next to an elephant from Aunt Beth. It was hard to get a good picture as he was not too happy about trying to sit up!

Mitch got this wee ninja from some of Matt's Rice friends...he absolutely loves it!

Bath time is getting a little better each time, less crying and more calming (thank goodness!)

Some of Mitchell's firsts

Also while Matt's parents were in town, Mitch had a few more "firsts". Here are some of his first bath in the tub; he yelled most of the time and really didn't care for it!

Luckily, he liked drying off a little better and even had a wave to the camera!

Here he is with dad, trying out feeding from a bottle while mom was at an appointment. He seemed a little confused but overall ate pretty well.

This is the first day Mitchell wore pants! Much to my surprise, it didn't make diaper changes much harder.

Grandma and Grandpa G's visit

Meeting Grandma G...looks pretty comfy!

Mitch's first outdoor grilling experience, grandma and grandpa were the entertainment!

Mitchell also got to ride in his stroller for the first time when we took a family walk. We went to see the giant Paul Bunyan statue; I don't think Mitch was impressed as he stayed asleep the whole time.
